Mikka Hunt has been named the new executive director of Downtown Wabash, Inc. She follows Shane Waters who resigned in early September.

“We are very pleased to have Mikka assume the role as Executive Director,” said board chair Amanda Lopez. “Mikka performed exceptionally well as our Events Manager with particular emphasis on her successful management of our First Fridays and Farmers Markets, and she really stepped up to help us fill the void left by Shane’s resignation. She will be a tremendous asset, and we look forward to her leadership.”

“We will miss Shane and are very appreciative of his efforts during his tenure,” Lopez continued. “We wish him the best in all of his future endeavors.”

Hunt added, “Shane’s tech savviness and humor will be missed in the office, as will his skills to foster relationships and provide hands-on support to downtown business and property owners, sponsors, and community members. We are confident he will remain a dedicated member and resource to both DWI and the entire community.”

Hunt is looking forward to the challenges ahead. “DWI is a vibrant and exciting organization, and I am looking forward to working with the board to lead it into the future. I am very appreciative of this opportunity and will work hard to justify the confidence the board has expressed in me.”

Hunt has a BA from Depauw University and has significant management experience in the educational and charitable fields.

Mikka and her husband, Vann Hunt, have two children, Jonnah and Nayommi, and reside in North Manchester.
