City to celebrate official opening of pickleball courts

April 30, 2026

Wabash County, IN – Grow Wabash County and the City of Wabash invite the community to lace up their tennis shoes and grab a friend to celebrate the official opening of the city’s new pickleball and tennis courts on Wednesday, May 27.

“This project is a great example of what can happen when a community comes together to invest in quality of life,” Tenille Zartman, president and CEO of Grow Wabash County, said. “These new courts create more opportunities for residents and visitors to stay active, connect with others, and enjoy all that Wabash has to offer.”

In recent years, pickleball has increased in popularity, offering people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to enjoy a game that, while quick and competitive, is also known for its accessibility. The Town of North Manchester also recently opened their public pickleball courts.

“The City of Wabash offers many recreational activities, but one that we could not offer was outdoor pickleball, until now,” Adam Hall, park superintendent, said. “With the help of local officials and community members, the City was able to completely remove the old tennis courts, expand the area, and now offer four tennis courts and six pickleball courts.”

Grow Wabash County will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening. The ceremony will begin at 3 P.M. on Wednesday, May 27, at 370 W Harrison Street in Wabash, IN.
