Grow Wabash County hosts annual WACCY Golf Outing

June 14, 2023

Wabash County, IN – On Wednesday June 7, Grow Wabash County hosted its annual WACCY Golf outing at the Honeywell Public Golf Course. The light wind provided a relief from the sun beating down on the green, but golf balls were soaring.

Under the sun, 23 teams consisting of 92 players teed off at 1 p.m. all across the course. Most holes were managed by volunteers, who were there to make the experience even more fun by providing a multitude of services including putt-putt, a golf ball cannon, and the chance to win $3,000 by scoring a hole-in-one.

When the green was cleared and the clubs were lowered, the putting challenge began. Zach Vawter from Duke Energy came out on top as he was the only one to make the long putt across the green.

The Wings, Etc. team took home the title of 2023 WACCY Golf Grand Champions, winning various prizes, including a brand-new grill. In addition, they also claimed the WACCY Championship Belt, which had previously been held by the 2022 champion: Gaunt & Son Asphalt Inc.
The former champions Gaunt & Son Asphalt Inc came in second, taking home various prizes themselves. Following behind was joint Brady Benefits/Bulldog Battery team coming in third place.

A special thanks to Badger Tool Belts, Ford Meter Box, Schlemmer Brothers Metalworks, Wabash Hardware & Rental, and Wabash Steel Supply for donating prizes for this event. Grow Wabash County also deeply appreciates all the volunteers who came out to help.
