Eclectic Shoppe to celebrate new LaFontaine location

    October 20, 2023

Wabash County, IN – Grow Wabash County invites the community to join us on Saturday, Nov. 4, for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the Eclectic Shoppe’s new location in LaFontaine.

"The Town of LaFontaine is excited to welcome the Eclectic Shoppe to their new home in downtown LaFontaine,” John Krhin, LaFontaine town council member, said. “Along with the recent opening of Charlie's Donuts, our downtown is growing."

Prior to its relocation to LaFontaine, the Eclectic Shoppe made its home on Canal Street in downtown Wabash. Since 2015, owner Maria Smyth and the store have played an active role in the growth and development of the downtown business community and have supported the various events and efforts to attract more businesses and visitors to Wabash County.

“When we moved to Wabash I wanted to invest in my community,” Smyth said. “My investment would come in the form of time and commitment in various projects/events. I loved Wabash and wanted to give a little back…We know moving the business is a risk but we think the risk is worth the time, investment, and commitment. We hope our customers, family, and friends continue to support the Eclectic Shoppe in the town of LaFontaine.”

The Eclectic Shoppe was even featured in the 2016 Small Business Revolution television series as one of several local businesses that received guidance and support from consultants Amanda Brinkman and Robert Herjavec. The business has also been featured in various publications around Indiana for its unique boutique offerings.

“Small businesses like the Eclectic Shoppe are a vital part of the Wabash County community,” Keith Gillenwater, president and CEO of Grow Wabash County, said. “The Eclectic Shoppe has lived up to its name by offering treats and treasures of all shapes and sizes to shoppers as well as celebrating their passion for antiques. They have also provided many local artisans with the opportunity to sell their wares in the Shoppe which has helped even more entrepreneurs grow and succeed.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Eclectic Shoppe’s new location, 14 Branson Street in LaFontaine. Following the ceremony, guests will be invited to explore the store and all of its treasures.
