Grow Wabash County hosts annual WACCY Golf Outing

June 12, 2024

Wabash County, IN – On Wednesday, June 5, Grow Wabash County hosted its annual WACCY Golf outing at the Honeywell Public Golf Course. The drizzle at the beginning did not stop the golfers and the weather soon cleared up and turned into the ideal day to play a round of golf.

Under the clouds, 24 teams consisting of 96 players teed off at 1 p.m. across the course. Most holes were managed by volunteers and hole sponsors, who were there to make the experience even more fun by providing a multitude of services including putt-putt, a golf ball cannon, and the chance to win $5,000 by scoring a hole-in-one.

When the green was cleared and the clubs were lowered, the day’s winners made themselves known and received various prizes for their efforts.

Will Roberts from Clear Water Systems won the Longest Putt competition while the Closest to the Pin competition was topped by Dr. David Frischman who played on the Crossroads Bank team.

The two Longest Drive competitions (for men and women) winners were: Aaron Spring representing Wellbrooke of Wabash and Lindsey Dewitt from Ruoff Mortgage.

After relinquishing the WACCY Championship belt to Wings Etc. In 2023, one of the Gaunt & Son Asphalt, Inc. Teams victoriously took home the belt once again as well as the title of 2024 WACCY Golf Grand Champion. The 2023champions, Wings Etc. came in second with the team from Wellbrooke of Wabash team coming in third place.
