Kalenborn Abresist to be recognized as 2024 Business of the Year

    July 9, 2024

Wabash County, IN – Grow Wabash County is thrilled to announce that Kalenborn Abresist has been selected as the 2024 Business of the Year and will be honored during Grow Wabash County’s Annual Dinner Celebration on Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Honeywell Center.

"Grow Wabash County is thrilled to present Kalenborn Abresist Corporation as the 2024 Business of the Year,” Tenille Zartman, president and CEO of Grow Wabash County, said. “Kalenborn Abresist Corporation as a company has just celebrated 100 years of excellence and has been voted Indiana's Best Place to Work in Manufacturing for two consecutive years by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Kalenborn Abresist truly has a remarkable story to share, and we are proud to celebrate their outstanding achievements."

Founded in 1977, Kalenborn Abresist Corporation, based in Urbana, Indiana, manufactures wear resistant linings, including ceramic and fused cast basalt linings that provide excellent impact and abrasion resistant protection. The original Kalenborn Abresist material was developed in the 1920s by KALENBORN® International, the German parent of Kalenborn Abresist.

Kalenborn Abresist customers include the power, cement, chemical, coal, building products, mining and pulp and paper industries, as well as the food industry where ABRESIST® and KALOCER® are approved for use in FDA food processing plants. Linings are marketed throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“What an honor it is to be recognized this year as Wabash County’s Business of the Year,” Craig Frendewey, president of Kalenborn Abresist Corporation, said. “When we think of the hundreds of companies both large and small that make up the economic climate of Wabash County we are truly humbled to be given this honor. It is with great pride that we accept it on behalf of the community that we are so proudly a part of. We believe that Wabash County is the ideal place to grow our business and are thankful that it has provided us a home for us to do just that. We see a future here and proudly recognize so many of our team members have come from here and now and in the future will remain active members of this community we have grown to love.”

Registration is now open for tickets and sponsorships for the 2024 Annual Dinner Celebration on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Legacy Hall at the Honeywell Center.
