Grow Wabash County to celebrate back-to-back Lagro ribbon cuttings

    July 18, 2024

Wabash County, IN  – The Wabash County community is invited to join Grow Wabash County in the town of Lagro to help celebrate the grand openings of two new businesses on Friday, August 9.

The two businesses, Geronimo and River Hippie, will be welcomed into the Wabash County business community with back-to-back ribbon cutting ceremonies.

“We are thrilled to welcome not one, but two amazing businesses in downtown Lagro,” Jana Thibos, project manager for events and investor services, said. “Both charming shops cater to unique individuals, showcasing exquisite pieces and one-of-a-kind items. We are excited to welcome them into the community.”

Geronimo, owned and operated by Ben and Jen Bailey, will be the new hot spot for those looking to live the “vintage lifestyle” with a western flair. The store will sell new and vintage pocketknives, vintage western wear, heirloom Stetson hats, and other unique apparel.  The store also keeps it “green” by selling secondhand and previously owned goods and apparel.

"We are thrilled to open our ‘vintage lifestyle’ shop in Lagro, Indiana,” Bailey said. “We truly believe that living a responsible, authentic, ‘vintage lifestyle’ is something everyone can get behind. When deciding on a location to open our shop, we thought Lagro would be the perfect fit. We have the river, bike trails, state forest, Salamonie Reservoir, endless outdoor activities and locally owned restaurants and shops. Geronimo fits in perfectly with the authentic laid-back vibe in Lagro. We are thrilled to work and live in Wabash County!"

River Hippie will also bring its own unique style of clothes and accessories to Lagro with high-quality pieces meant to make a statement. The store is owned and operated by Candie Cooper, who has also successfully established her other business, The Interurban, in Lagro.

The ribbon cutting ceremonies will begin at noon on Friday, Aug. 9. The first ribbon will be cut at Geronimo, 830 Washington Street in Lagro and will be immediately followed by a ribbon cutting at River Hippie, 850 Basin Street in Lagro. After the ceremonies, guests are encouraged to meet the owners of Geronimo and River Hippie and enter the giveaway for a basket filled with products from both stores.
