Grow Wabash County hosts annual WACCY Golf Outing
June 8, 2025
Wabash County, IN – On Wednesday, June 4, Grow Wabash County hosted its annual WACCY Golf outing at the Honeywell Public Golf Course. Despite short windows of rain scattered throughout the afternoon, the good times and good spirits of the golfers, hole sponsors and volunteers could not be dampened.
On Wednesday afternoon, 24 teams consisting of 96 players teed off at 1 p.m. across the course. Most holes were managed by volunteers and hole sponsors, who were there to make the experience even more fun by providing a multitude of services including putt-putt, a golf ball cannon, and the chance to win $5,000 by scoring a hole-in-one.
When the green was cleared and the clubs were lowered, the day’s winners made themselves known and received various prizes for their efforts.
Mike Korpi from the Living Essentials team won the Longest Putt competition while the Closest to the Pin competition was topped by Dan Beard who played on the Duke Energy team.
The two Longest Drive competitions (for men and women) winners were: Marc Munson representing Living Essentials and Misty Oliver from the Ruoff Mortgage team.
This year’s WACCY Golf Champion, and current owner of the WACCY Championship belt for the next year, is Bachelor Creek Church of Christ who pulled out the win with a score of 55. Wings, Etc., a past champion of the outing, placed second, followed by the Living Essentials team in third place.
