Grow Wabash County welcomes Amelia Daughtry as high school intern
September 21, 2025
Wabash County, IN – Grow Wabash County would like to welcome Wabash High School senior, Amelia Daughtry, as the organization’s intern for fall 2025.
Amelia brings a strong interest in government, civic engagement, and community development to the team. Having just moved here from St. Louis, Missouri, Amelia is eager to learn more about Wabash County and connect with the people and projects that power the community.
Before her transition to Wabash High School, Amelia was actively involved within her school and community in St. Louis. She participated in the school’s choir for four years, played both basketball and tennis, was a member of the yearbook staff, and served as a mentor in her school's freshman integration program. She is also a graduate of a city-wide youth leadership organization, a member of the National Honor Society, and a Missouri Girls State alumna. She plans to continue playing both basketball and tennis at Wabash High School and is excited to explore the various opportunities they have to offer.
“We are thrilled to welcome Amelia to the Grow Wabash County team,” President and CEO Tenille Zartman, said. “Her passion for civic engagement and community development is exactly the kind of energy we need to help build a stronger future for Wabash County.”
As a senior, Amelia plans to pursue a degree in political science with an emphasis in public policy after graduation and sees this internship as an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with community development.
During her internship, Amelia hopes to explore how economic development organizations collaborate with local and state governments to address the needs of the community in which they serve. She is especially interested in observing the problem-solving process: how issues are identified, the strategy of goal setting, stakeholder involvement, and how solutions are implemented effectively. Furthermore, she hopes to develop her understanding of how the community itself is involved in these efforts: how their input is collected and considered, and how Grow Wabash County can best connect with businesses and residents to ensure that their values are represented in community development initiatives.
Grow Wabash County is a strong supporter of internships and truly believes that the connections made between students and employers during these internships are invaluable to both parties.
