JJ's to break ground on new Wabash location

October 30, 2025

Wabash County, IN  – Grow Wabash County and Johnson Junction (JJ’s) Travel Plaza and Convenience Stores will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, November 10, to mark the beginning of construction on the business’ new travel plaza and convenience store in Wabash.

“Investments like JJ’s Travel Plaza demonstrate the confidence local businesses have in Wabash County’s growth trajectory,” said Tenille Zartman, president and CEO of Grow Wabash County. “In today’s mobile world, a full-service truck stop like JJ’s plays a vital role in supporting commerce, connecting people and goods, and fueling the growth that keeps Wabash County moving forward.”

“On behalf of the City of Wabash, we are grateful to the Stanley and Reckelhoff families for investing in our community,” said Wabash Mayor Scott Long. “Their project reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of Wabash and helps our city continue to grow as a welcoming, connected place for both business and travel.”

Johnson Junction was founded in 1980 by Ralph and Barbara Johnson, which was then taken over by their daughter and son-in-law, Brent and Darlene Stanley in 1999, and is now in its 3rd generation of family ownership with Ralph & Barbara's grandchildren, Nick Stanley & Megan Reckelhoff. The JJ's team includes over 150 team members in the communities they serve.

“JJ’s, a family-owned local business, is proud to break ground on a brand-new convenience store in the heart of the rural community it has long served,” Nick Stanley, current president and co-owner, said. “This new location marks an exciting chapter for the JJ’s family, bringing expanded services, fresh offerings, and continued commitment to hometown excellence values. With deep roots in the area, JJ’s aims to create a welcoming space that meets the everyday needs of residents and travelers while supporting local growth and connection.”

The groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 10, at JJ’s future Wabash location, US-24 and Manchester Ave, Southwest corner in Wabash.
