Wabash County Museum Announces Summer Civic Season Programming in Celebration of America’s 250th
June 10, 2026
[Wabash, IN, June 10, 2026] - The Wabash County Museum is excited to participate
in this year’s Made By Us Civic Season, which celebrates America’s 250th
anniversary. While Civic Season officially runs from Juneteenth through the Fourth
of July, the Museum is expanding the celebration with a series of special programs
and events throughout the summer designed to encourage community
connection, reflection, and engagement with local and national history.
“These programs are designed to bring people together through history and shared
experiences,” said Teresa Galley, Executive Director of the Wabash County Museum.
“America’s 250th anniversary gives us a unique opportunity to reflect on our
nation’s story while also celebrating the local stories and community connections
that continue to shape Wabash County today.”
From June 15 through July 31, visitors can enjoy a special patriotic quilt display
created by the Sew Pieceful Quilt Guild in the Museum’s front windows. Featuring
more than 10 handcrafted quilts, each piece was designed specifically in honor of
the United States’ 250th anniversary.
On June 19, the Museum will host the Wabash County Diversity Coalition’s
Juneteenth Community Conversation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Community members
are invited to participate in meaningful discussion and reflection, with food
available during the event.
The Museum’s monthly Thursday Parlay program on July 2 at 10 a.m. will also
feature a special America 250 theme. Sponsored by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral
Service with food provided by Bob Evans Restaurant, the event will begin with
nationally recognized Abraham Lincoln presenter Murray Cox portraying Lincoln,
followed by Museum Curator Jeff Galley sharing stories and history about objects in
the museum that have ties to the 250th anniversary.
On July 4, the Museum will host a Fourth of July Block Party in partnership with
Living Well Downtown Wabash from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will feature live
music from The Bulldogs beginning at 7 p.m. in the east parking lot, along with
family-friendly activities, food trucks, and community celebration. Guests can head
to the City of Wabash’s fireworks display after the concert so grab your lawn chairs,
and bring your crew to the Museum in downtown Wabash for a night of
community, nostalgia, and good old-fashioned summer fun. No tickets, no hassle,
just great vibes.
Civic Season programming will conclude on July 8 with a special presentation by
Ham Sadler on the steps of the Wabash County Courthouse at 6 p.m. Sadler will
recite the Declaration of Independence simultaneously with communities across
the country as part of the national initiative called Sharing the Spirit of America.
