Station 1 Firehouse Café to celebrate opening in Lagro
November 7, 2023
Wabash County, IN – Grow Wabash County is thrilled to invite the Wabash County community to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, November 18, to celebrate the opening of the Station 1 Firehouse Café in Lagro.
The café is housed in the historic Old Lagro Firehouse Building and is the realization of a dream decades in the making. When John, Jodie and Morgan Potter first laid eyes on the building in the late 1990s, they knew even then that the place had potential to be a unique spot for a “coffee and tea house.”
Over the next several years, with the help of local individuals and businesses, the firehouse was soon restored to its former glory and was primed to become the café that the Potters always envisioned it would be.
“Lagro is growing as a community,” Kristie Bone, clerk-treasurer, for Lagro, said. “And as a resident elected official, this is an exciting time for us all. We like to welcome Fire Station 1 Cafe to our community and wish them the best luck.”
The opening of the Station 1 Café is one of the many projects in recent years that have focused on increasing Lagro’s attractiveness to visitors and Wabash County residents alike.
“The growth and development taking place in Lagro is astounding to watch,” Keith Gillenwater, president and CEO of Grow Wabash County, said. “In just a few short years, Lagro has kickstarted the renovation and opening of many new spots in its downtown area and the Station 1 Café is an exciting continuation of that. The people behind Lagro’s transformation have such a strong and unbreakable love for the community that shines through every time a new business celebrates its grand opening here.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, at the Station 1 Firehouse Café, 910 Main Street in Lagro. Following the ceremony, guests are encouraged to enjoy breakfast and meet the Station 1 Firehouse Café team.
