This year for Giving Tuesday, the Wabash County Museum’s campaign will be led by their team of beloved mascots. The museum is an integral part of the community that welcomes more than 20,000 guests annually to learn about our history while also connecting with the community.

“Our team is proud of the work we are doing toward preservation, education, and innovation in the way we present history. Gifts to the museum during this time of year are crucial to support operations and allow us to continue to offer vital programming.” shares Teresa Galley, executive director of the museum.

Board Chair, Rachel Castle explains, “Tying the mascots, Theodore, Daphne, Dr. Brush, and Beau, into the campaign let us share more about the unique ways the museum connects our exhibits and programming with families and especially children to spark curiosity, imagination, and a passion for lifelong learning.”

Meet the Team of Mascots at the Museum

Theodore, the Museum’s original black bear mascot is the first friendly face visitors see at the entrance. Strong, welcoming, and always ready for a hug or a photo, he has been part of the Museum’s story from the beginning. While black bears no longer roam Wabash County, Theodore reminds us of the region’s wild past and the welcoming spirit that defines our community. He is connected to The Den by Beacon, the Museum’s active learning and play space.

Graceful and gentle, Daphne, a white-tailed deer, makes her home in The Meadow by Bowen Health, the Museum’s sensory-friendly space. She encourages guests of all ages to pause, explore, and connect with Wabash County’s history at their own pace, making learning a calm and imaginative experience.

Inventive and clever, Dr. Brush, the fox, resides in the Museum’s STEM-focused space. Always curious, he inspires young scientists and innovators to explore and experiment. He encourages hands-on creativity while making science and discovery fun. Dr. Brush brings the story of Wabash’s innovative and entrepreneurial past to life.

The newest member of the team, Beau, the beaver, represents the species that have lived in Wabash County for centuries. With his spirit of adventure and love of the county’s waterways, Beau is a true superhero who uses his iron teeth and water-wicking fur to celebrate the natural resources of northern Indiana. He is part of the Forest to Field exhibit, where he encourages children to explore, learn, and appreciate the natural world.

Watch for the mascots this November and December as they act as the spokes people for the museum and the amazing work they do to preserve and present history in Northern Indiana.
