Wabash County Museum Announces Second Annual Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Wabash, IN - The Wabash County Museum proudly announces the second annual Wabash County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and invites the community to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the 2026 inductees.

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 1 at 3:00 p.m. in the Eagles Theatre Ballroom, located at 106 West Market Street in downtown Wabash. This year’s class honors individuals and teams from Manchester Community Schools, Manchester University, MSD of Wabash County, and Wabash City Schools, all of whose contributions have shaped the rich athletic history of Wabash County across multiple eras.

This celebration of Wabash County sports is open to the public but RSVPs are required to attend and can be made by calling the Museum at 260-563-9070, emailing info@wabashmuseum.org , or visiting the Museum’s Welcome Desk.

2026 Pioneer Era (1860–1950) Inductees: Phil Eskew, Gerold “Doe” Faudree, Mark C. Honeywell, Harry B. Hutchens, Homer “Cubby” Knee, Irvin “Tiny” Knee, Thomas “Stew” Butler, George Ross, Doris “Bill” Smyers Richards, and Marcia Snow.

2026 Contemporary Era (1951–2000) Inductees: Nancy Wendel Alspaugh, Donny Blair, Jan Eichenauer Gappa, Bill Hensley, Jim Kaltenmark, Dick Leming, Steve McClure, Dick Miller, Moe Smedley, and Dr. Jim Todd.

2026 Modern Era (2001–Present) Inductees: Zach Dials, Nick Driskill, Brooklyn Short Guenin, Jack Rupley, and Tony Uggen.

In addition to individual honorees, a Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Robert “Bob” Bailey in recognition of his lasting impact on Wabash County athletics.

Two historic teams will also be honored: the Wabash High School “Snowballs” Basketball Teams (1929, 1931, 1932) and the 1986 Wabash High School Baseball Team.

The Wabash County Sports Hall of Fame celebrates the athletes, coaches, and teams whose dedication, talent, and achievements have left a lasting legacy in the community. The Museum is honored to recognize this year’s inductees and looks forward to bringing
the community together for this special occasion.
