Wabash County, IN – Grow Wabash County is thrilled to announce that the Ag Committee has secured Purdue University President Mung Chiang as keynote speaker for the 2024 Salute to Ag Dinner scheduled for Wednesday, February 28.
President Chiang is an engineer, educator, technology entrepreneur and innovator who previously served as both Purdue’s executive vice president for strategic initiatives and the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering. He is also the winner of the National Science Foundation’s Alan T. Waterman Award in 2013, the highest honor presented to an American researcher under the age of 40, and is a member of the National Academy of Inventors and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
“One of my aspirations as president is to visit all of Indiana’s 92 counties to reaffirm Purdue’s place as the state’s land-grant institution and the trusted resource for the entire state,” President Chiang said. “These visits have also provided me with valuable insights into the pivotal role of the agricultural industry, importance of Extension services and commitment of our agricultural producers to the great state of Indiana. I am looking forward to celebrating the rich tradition of agriculture and proudly recognizing Wabash County’s farm families during the Grow Wabash County Salute to Agriculture Dinner.”
This year’s Salute to Ag will also celebrate the Peebles Family who owns and operates not one, but two, farms in Wabash County: Never Fail Farms, Inc. and VADA Farms, Inc.
The 2024 Salute to Ag Dinner will take place on Wednesday, February 28 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Heartland REMC building, 350 Wedcor Avenue in Wabash.
